House L is designed with a blend of traditional and modern architectural elements, taking into account the living habits of a contemporary family. The main feature of the house is a gabled roof that spans the entire volume of the building in a single gesture, visually connecting both the exterior and interior spaces. This design move unifies the house architecturally while also providing shading for the outdoor living areas.
Wooden panels embrace the covered outdoor spaces, creating a warm contrast to the façade. The site's topography dictated the basic form and position of the house. The northern façade, facing the street, acts as a visual barrier between the private garden and the driveway. The entrance is located on the north side. Upon entering the house, a view opens toward the internal courtyard, while the central living area extends toward the southwest through large glazed openings, allowing optimal use of sunlight throughout the day. This orientation not only enhances the building’s energy efficiency but also provides beautiful views, privacy, and a pleasant living environment.
The retaining walls and exterior staircase blend into the terrain, forming soft transitions that create various zones for gardening, relaxation, or socializing.
The ground floor includes living and service areas. On the western side, there is a master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet. The double-height living space, with southwest-facing glass surfaces, creates a beautiful atmosphere and connects directly to the garden. The upper floor accommodates two children's bedrooms and a shared bathroom.
